Remedy & Root, LLC
Effective Date: September 7, 2026
Last Updated: September 7, 2026
The short version. Remedy & Root is a systems change consultancy. We work on how health care organizations are built, not on anyone’s individual care. Tracy Steffek is not a clinician, an attorney, or an accountant, and nothing published here is medical, legal, or financial advice. Reading this site does not make you a client. If you apply something you read here, that decision and its consequences are yours. In an emergency, call 911, or call or text 988 for crisis support.
1. What We Do
Remedy & Root, LLC is a systems change consulting practice founded and led by Tracy Steffek, MPA. We work with health care systems, oncology programs, non-profits, coalitions, community-based organizations, philanthropies, and public agencies on the design and operation of community-clinical integration: governance, workflows, data and measurement, workforce readiness, and the connective infrastructure between clinical care and community capacity.
The work is organizational and structural. It is delivered to institutions through diagnostic assessment, strategy design, implementation support, and advisory engagement.
2. What We Are Not
This section matters most, so it is stated without hedging.
We are not a health care provider, and Tracy Steffek is not a clinician. She is not a physician, nurse, physician assistant, therapist, counselor, social worker, or dietitian, and holds no clinical license in any jurisdiction. Nothing on this Site, in our newsletters, frameworks, assessments, presentations, or social media is medical advice, clinical guidance, a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for a qualified professional who knows your situation. That includes everything written here about cancer, oncology care delivery, treatment pathways, survivorship, and supportive care, which appears as health system design content and not as guidance for any individual’s care.
We are not navigators, care managers, or care coordinators for individuals. We assess and design the systems inside which navigation happens. We accept no patients and intervene in no one’s treatment.
We are not attorneys, accountants, CPAs, tax advisors, financial or investment advisors, actuaries, billing or reimbursement consultants, HR or employment advisors, or licensed insurance producers. Content touching regulation, compliance, HIPAA, contracting, governance, return on investment, cost avoidance, value-based payment, budgeting, business models, staffing, or role design is general organizational information. It is not a legal opinion, an accounting or tax position, a financial projection you may rely on, investment advice, a coverage determination, or employment law guidance. Consult your own licensed professionals before acting.
We are not a research institution, and our published work is not peer-reviewed unless a specific piece says so and names the publication.
3. Using This Site Does Not Make You a Client
Reading this Site, subscribing to the email list, downloading a resource, completing a self-assessment, attending a webinar, following us on a professional network, or sending us a message creates no consulting relationship, client relationship, fiduciary duty, clinician-patient relationship, or attorney-client relationship.
A consulting relationship with Remedy & Root begins when both parties sign a written agreement or statement of work that says so, and not before. Until then, no duty of care or obligation of confidentiality arises from your use of this Site. Please do not send confidential organizational information through this Site or by unencrypted email expecting it to be treated as confidential, and see Section 6 of the Privacy Policy regarding health information.
4. Educational Purposes, and Your Responsibility for What Comes Next
Everything published here, including essays, newsletters, frameworks, diagrams, assessments, checklists, templates, and downloadable resources, is general educational content. It is not tailored to your organization’s facts, patient population, payer mix, regulatory environment, staffing reality, or risk tolerance. General information is not a plan, and applying a framework built for a general audience to a specific institution without adaptation is the most common way that good ideas fail in practice.
You are solely responsible for how you use, interpret, adapt, or act on anything published here, and for what follows. If you apply something from this Site to your organization, your program, your career, your health, or your family’s health, you do so at your own risk and on your own judgment, and you accept responsibility for deciding whether it fits your circumstances, whether it is current, and whether it complies with the law that applies to you. Remedy & Root, LLC and Tracy Steffek are not responsible or liable for any decision you make, any action you take or do not take, or any outcome that follows.
5. Emergencies
If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you are in emotional distress or crisis, or worried about someone who is, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
This Site is not monitored for emergencies. Please do not use the contact form, email, or social media to report an urgent medical or safety situation, because we may not see it for days.
If you or someone you love is facing a cancer diagnosis and needs support, contact your treating oncology team, your institution’s supportive care or social work department, or an organization such as the American Cancer Society (1-800-227-2345) or CancerCare (1-800-813-4673).
6. No Guarantee of Results
We make no guarantee, representation, or warranty that any framework, assessment, methodology, or idea published here will produce a particular result for you or your organization, including financial return, cost savings, reimbursement outcomes, measure performance, grant or contract awards, accreditation, staffing improvements, patient outcomes, or organizational change of any kind.
Systems change depends on leadership commitment, funding, workforce capacity, governance, culture, timing, policy environment, and execution, most of which lie outside our control and outside our knowledge of your setting. Any example or figure on this Site describes what happened in one context. It is not a promise, a prediction, or a typical result.
7. Accuracy and Currency
We take accuracy seriously and cite sources where content rests on published evidence. Even so, content is provided as is. Health policy, payment models, regulation, and evidence change continually, so material that was accurate when published may not be accurate when you read it, and we have no obligation to update it. We make no warranty that content here is accurate, complete, current, or error-free. Verify anything you intend to rely on against a primary source.
If you believe something here is wrong, please tell us at tracy@remedyandroot.com. We correct what we can verify and note material corrections on the affected content.
8. Examples, Testimonials, Links, and Endorsements
Any testimonial, quotation, or client example reflects one organization’s experience in one context and is not a guarantee of similar results. Client examples appear only with permission, de-identified or aggregated where identification is not authorized. Testimonials are unpaid unless we say otherwise, and where one has been edited for length, the substance is unchanged.
We link to and cite third-party research, organizations, tools, and resources for convenience. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality, security, or availability. A link, citation, or mention is not an endorsement and implies no partnership, affiliation, or sponsorship unless stated, in either direction. Where a material connection ever exists between us and something we recommend, we will disclose it at or near that content, consistent with the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guides, 16 C.F.R. Part 255.
9. Lived Experience Content
Tracy Steffek writes and speaks publicly from lived experience with the health care system, including as a family caregiver and patient advocate, and that experience informs this practice.
Personal narrative is offered as testimony and as evidence about how systems function. It is not clinical guidance, not a statement of what anyone else should do, and not a claim that another person’s experience will resemble hers. No one is identified in narrative content without permission, and details are altered where necessary to protect privacy.
10. Our Frameworks and Assessments Are Organizational Tools, Not Clinical Ones
Remedy & Root publishes and licenses proprietary frameworks and diagnostic instruments, which may include the R&R Integration Blueprint, the Community Integration Blueprint, and the Systems Integration Readiness Assessment (SIRA).
These evaluate institutional readiness, structure, workflow, and capacity. They are not clinical instruments, diagnostic tests, validated psychometric measures, or screening tools, and they must never be used to assess, diagnose, triage, screen, or make decisions about any individual patient or person. Scores and outputs are indicative and directional. They inform organizational judgment; they do not replace it, and any decision made on the basis of an output remains the decision of the organization that makes it. The same applies to any machine learning, predictive modeling, or algorithmic method described here: it is illustrative, is not represented as validated for another setting, and is not clinical decision support.
Use of these instruments outside a written license from Remedy & Root is not authorized. See Part III, Section 5.
11. Limitation of Liability and Governing Law
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Remedy & Root, LLC, Tracy Steffek, and our contractors, agents, and affiliates are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, business, or reputation, arising out of your use of this Site or your reliance on anything published here, under any legal theory, and whether or not we were advised such damages were possible. The full limitation, including the liability cap, appears in Part III, Section 11.
This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles, and is subject to the dispute resolution terms in Part III, Section 13. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. ***
